Recently, it announced that it plans to invest 7.34 billion euros (equivalent to 50 billion yuan) to build a second European factory in Hungary to produce new energy lithium batteries to supply new energy vehicles in the European market. It was also reported that Ningde Times planned to invest US $5 billion to build a factory in North America. Because of various sensitive issues, the North American plan was temporarily shelved. What role can the absolute encoder play in the new production line?



It is understood that Ningde Times has ten major production bases in the world at present. As early as 2018, Ningde Times announced that its first overseas factory was set up in Thuringia, Germany. However, the feedback from the German factory is that the cost is too high and the construction period is too long. Considering the current international situation, the long overseas construction period may have weakened the market competitiveness when it is put into production.



Therefore, whether it is to build a factory in Hungary, or plan to build a factory in North America, or even to build a new factory in China, due to the epidemic situation and the increase in import prices, the new production line faces the same problem:



Less business trips, short debugging cycle, high one-time pass rate, simple and convenient use and maintenance, and rapid production. In response to customers' demands, there is a reconsideration of the "cost performance" of automation equipment and devices on the production line. The relationship between cost performance and reliability in overseas localization production needs to take into account the impact of worker training, efficiency, and production line maintenance on costs.





Recently, Lei Jun of Xiaomi made a similar statement in his speech. In fact, the progressiveness product technology is also intended to improve the cost performance of products. Customers not only pursue progressiveness technology and sustainable development, but also consider the input-output cost and future use cost of the production line. Facing too new technology, I feel the cost is too high; It is difficult to trust the stability and reliability of some products that regard cheap as cost-effective. How to choose between "advanced technology" and "cost performance"?



It can be seen that "technology based, cost-effective" has been the common thinking of technology leaders. Whether it is an overseas factory or a domestic production line, how to consider the cost performance and reliability of the equipment on the production line? How much proportion of automation equipment made in China in overseas production lines? How to reduce the impact of price increase and lead time on imported devices? The stability, reliability and efficiency of the production line directly affect the enterprise benefits. Recently, Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Ningde Times, also mentioned three requirements at the World Power Battery Conference: "First, higher requirements for research and development capabilities; second, higher requirements for manufacturing capabilities for large-scale delivery; and third, higher requirements for service capabilities for in-depth industrial development." The second point is about the manufacturing capacity. Modern industrial production is no longer single machine processing, but requires the entire production process to be fully automated. Any automated production line, whether advanced or not, should be implemented around the goal of stability, reliability and efficiency.



Then we think that the cost-effectiveness of the production line should be understood as follows. Next, taking the lithium battery production line as an example, when referring to the advanced and efficient manufacturing capacity of various automotive lithium battery manufacturing equipment, we often think of various servo motors as the control system of the executive components. However, due to the battery manufacturing process, not all production processes are completed by servo motors, There are also some stepper motors and even cylinders. For example, rolling is positioned by cylinders.



In the traditional servo, the encoder is used as the sensor at the end of the motor. When each machine position is synchronized, it needs to receive real-time position feedback from the encoder. The controller is connected in series through the industrial bus or industrial Ethernet and scans the position data one by one. Even if the bus is fast and the PLC is fast, there will be a little delay. This requires professional servo technicians to debug on site. Sometimes, the equipment has been used for a long time, and the mechanical wear loss is large, After the mechanical wear, the positioning position changes, which requires professional technicians to adjust and maintain on site. Under the demand of mass production capacity of the battery production line, the use cost and maintenance cost increase. An absolute value encoder is added to the mechanical terminal as the front-end sensor, and the position data is directly output in parallel to the controller for synchronous collection. No matter how many points work at the same time, and no matter how many points are driven by cylinders or stepper motors, the cooperative work between different actuators can be achieved, and no tedious debugging is required. Only manual calibration is required, and the position value is written into the controller. The controller reads the numerical output switching point when it is running, Controlling the machine, the working efficiency is significantly improved, the machine is more stable and reliable, the on-site debugging is simple, and the later maintenance is also convenient. Those who know the technology will say that the photoelectric switch is used for positioning. However, in the battery production line, such as the welding head, such as the press roller, it is flexible, and it is obviously not possible to meet the requirements of accurate positioning by relying on only one or two switching points. In addition, once overshoot occurs, the equipment will be damaged, so a flexible sensor scheme is required, Single turn absolute encoder is used as "flexible electronic cam switch". We simply understand the single turn absolute value encoder as there are many position switch combinations within 360 degrees. Suppose 360 degrees are divided into 360 switch point codes, and the control equipment (such as PLC or SCM) receives the codes. Any of these 360 positions can be selected as the output switch point of the electronic cam as required, as the "cam in deceleration" output and the "cam out reset" output, To control the reciprocating work of the mechanical device. This flexible electronic cam switch has high precision, high repeatability and high reliability. It can have multiple cam switch points at multiple positions. It can be programmed and output at any position as required. It is very suitable for applications that require simple repetition but require reliability, such as the simple and repeated process requirements on the lithium battery welding and packaging production line.



With absolute value encoder, it is only necessary to manually lock the position of several points during debugging, and then record the position value in the PLC program, which will not be changed in the future. Programming and debugging are very simple, and long-term reliability can be guaranteed in later use. As for the output signal of absolute value encoder, because most industrial control equipment will use analog quantity interface, analog quantity acquisition module collects all input signals at the same time, with high synchronization and good compatibility, and it is very convenient to check the fault on site with only one multimeter, so the single turn absolute value encoder of analog quantity signal of 4-20mA signal has many advantages, such as simple wiring, simple reading, simple debugging and simple maintenance, On the occasion of low precision requirements and high reliability requirements, it is preferred by field engineers.



Due to the limited space of the lithium battery production line, the sensor is required to be small in size and continuous high-speed welding. On the one hand, higher ambient temperature will be generated around the sensor, and on the other hand, the welding machine will be close to each other, which will generate higher electromagnetic interference. Therefore, the following higher requirements are put forward for the sensor:
